Toseland targets Valencia win

James Toseland heads to the fourth round of the WSB championship at Valencia this weekend desperate to put his race two mechanical failure at Donington behind him by taking the win.

Toseland looked odds on to take his first ever double win two weeks ago at Donington, but a quick shifter failure wrecked any chance of a historic multiple victory.

Speaking to MCN, Toseland said: “I’m going to Valencia this weekend to win – no doubt about it. We’ve been consistent all year and I haven’t finished a race lower than second place.

“I’m looking forward to it and I’m really keen to get back on it after the problem I had in the second race at Donington.

“To be honest I only cheered up about three days ago – I’ve been a bit miserable since the race. This weekend I want to put right what happened at Donington.”

Despite the 26-year-old being in the best form of his life, winning at the Valencia track won’t be easy.

Last season Toseland had the worst weekend of his season after struggling with grip and spending the entire race sideways due to a lack of any traction control.

This year Toseland and his Ten Kate Honda team have a fully operational advanced electronics package, which will prove vital in securing good results.

He added: “Valencia has been a bogey track in the past and last year I was down in ninth and 11th or something stupid.

“This year the bike is a different package due to the electronics we’ve now got. Having no traction control was the reason for the down fall last year.”
