Ellison's Valencia focus

Dean Ellison made his WSB testing debut earlier this month and is currently preparing himself for a second test in Valencia in less than two weeks time.

After a steady start, Ellison has had time to reflect on his opening three day test and is in confident mood for his next outing.

Speaking to MCN, Ellison said: “I’ve never ridden the Ducati 999 and with it being on Pirelli’s it was all new.

“The bike is certainly quick – faster than anything I’ve ever been on before. The tyres we tested worked well and made the handling of the bike impressive.”

Ellison is riding for the Pedercini Ducati squad and is using 2006 spec motors as used by Ducati men Bayliss and Lanzi last year, but unlike the factory team he has no advanced electronics or traction control on the bike.

He said: “At our first test it was only six degrees and we were certainly getting a lot of wheel spin.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about the next test and know that I need to change my riding style to get the best out of the package I’ve got.”

Ellison will be on track on February 7 and 8 alongside the Ten Kate Honda pairing of James Toseland and Roberto Rolfo and DFX’s Steve Martin and Michel Fabrizio.
