Reigning world champion Sebastian Charpentier topped the time sheets after day one of the official FGSport test in Vallelunga, near Rome. Charpentier set the benchmark in the opening 90 minute session of the day and didn’t go any quicker in the second session due to scorching track temperatures reducing grip.

Yamaha man Broc Parkes took second having also set his best lap this morning. Third place went to Kenan Sofuoglu who managed to slash half a second off his mornings best to end day one 0.46 seconds behind his Ten Kate Honda team-mate.

Italian Honda rider Lorenzo Alfonsi used his local knowledge of the track to take fourth with former Alto Evolution Superbike rider Josh Brookes impressing in his first outing on the Stiggy Motorsport Honda Supersport bike to go fifth.

The Kawasaki’s of Fabien Foret and Pere Riba were off the pace at the new circuit ending the day in ninth and 14th respectively.

Britons Craig Jones was in contention this morning but struggled with rear grip this afternoon and slipped to 12th.

The World Supersport riders will get another three hours of track time tomorrow with the weather forecast to be as hot and sunny as it is today.
