Troy Corser walked away unscathed from a high-speed crash during first qualifying today onboard his Yamaha Italia R1.

The Aussie nearly high sided going through the ultra fast Craner Curves, but managed to save it before running onto the wet grass and losing control.

Speaking exclusively to MCN, Corser said: “I got a bit of a better run through the top and I crashed at Craner – it was a fast one.

“As I changed direction from the right to left, I was going a bit quicker and the rear just came around on me. It left a big black line on the tarmac, but basically I saved it.

“I had to go straight on but there is a bit of a rise in the ground just after the track and because the grass is so wet the bike just followed the level of the ground and I was off.

“I hit the ground pretty quick and the bike flipped over a bit, but I’m alright.”

Corser showed no ill effects from his crash and promptly jumped on his number two bike to go lap half a second faster to end the day in second spot behind Ducati’s Troy Bayliss.
