Toseland predicts tough weekend

James Toseland is predicting one of the toughest races of the season this weekend in Monza, but remains confident he can continue his 100 per cent record of winning at least one race at every round of the championship so far.

The high-speed Monza circuit has been the venue of some of the best WSB races ever with its long straights and mixed speed chicanes historically making the racing both close and exciting.

Speaking to MCN, Toseland said: “We’ve had good results there in the past although I had a bad crash last year when my brakes failed at the end of the back straight.  That’s not going to happen again because we’ve sorted that problem.

“As for my rivals, Bayliss is going to be strong around here. He was last year and there’s nothing wrong with the top speed of the Ducati.

“Max Biaggi will also be fast, it’s his first home round and he’ll be pushing really hard for a good result.

“To be honest I think the racing should be pretty special, there’ll be a lot of slip streaming and all the bikes are so evenly matched now that it’s going to take something special for anyone to make a break.

And the 26-year-old added: “Top speed wise my bike is as good as anything out there, we might lose out on acceleration ever so slightly to the Yamaha and Suzuki but as a package I’m confident that we’re capable of winning.”
