Misano World Supersport: Craig Jones on front row

Craig Jones has put his Parkalgar Honda on the front row of the grid for tomorrows 22 lap World Supersport race in Misano.

During the final session held in scorching 31 degree temperatures the young Brit showed impressive race pace which should put him among the front runners for tomorrows race.

Jones said: “That was a tough session because of the heat,  but we’ve done some really good times on race tyres. The pace is going to fast tomorrow and both Pitt and Parkes are going really well.

“We’re all having to push to the limit because the times are so close and the pace is so competitive. There’s no doubt it’s going to be a hard race tomorrow and I’ll definitely need a drink after it – hopefully it will be champagne!”

Pole position went to Australian Broc Parkes. The Yamaha rider has been dominant in qualifying since the beginning of the season and by setting the fastest time in Misano made it four consecutive pole positions for the Yamaha man.

Championship leader Andrew Pitt was the fastest early on finishing in second, ahead of Parkes’ team-mate Fabien Foret.

Jonathan Rea claimed an impressive sixth place and being a true racer has shown good pace and remains confident for tomorrows race.

Chris Walker finished just2.1 seconds off pole but finished way down in 24th place with Graeme Gowland down in 33rd spot.
