World Superbikes: Indonesia race cancelled

1 of 1

The 2008 World Superbike calendar has been reduced to 14 rounds after it was confirmed that the proposed Indonesian race at Sentul on October 12 has been scrapped.

When the provisional calendar was announced at the beginning of the year there were doubts that the event would actually take place.

Initial concerns were over safety at the Sentul track, but FIM safety inspector Claude Danis visited the circuit after the Qatar race and declared it safe to race.

Although no official reason has been given for the cancellation, MCN understands that it was down to the funding of the event with the Indonesian government withdrawing their backing.
