Tyre life expected to cause problems at Miller

Britain’s Chaz Davies believes that tyre life could be a major problem for the World Superbike regulars during their first time at the Miller Motorsports Park circuit in the USA this weekend.

Davies finished in third place after the opening day of qualifying for his two Supersport races this weekend and reckons that front tyre life will cause the biggest problem especially after the first part of the circuit was recently resurfaced.

Davies said: “It’s hard on tyres around here. I put a qualifying tyre in and because we’re running on the even longer circuit it only just about finished the lap and the last few corners it was really sliding.

“We’re doing 2min 51sec laps so every lap is like a lap and a half of a normal length track.

“I think the WSB guys are going to find this track like Qatar for tyre life, but as more rubber gets put down on the track and the temperature increases it should make things better.”
