Leon Haslam was the surprise package of Saturday Superpole by securing sixth position for Sunday’s two 22 lap WSB races.

The 25 year old Brit was consistently one of the fastest riders on track after making suspension changes to his Stiggy Honda which improved the performance of the bike in the cooler ambient and track temperatures today.

He said: “I’m happy enough. We made a big step forward for the cooler conditions and if it’s hot tomorrow then I already know I’ve got a really good setting.

“Looking at the other teams they will be stronger if it’s cooler so hopefully it will be hot like it was when I tested here as I know that I can be fast.”

Haslam was also full of praise for the new look Superpole format having made the cut in all three sessions with the accolade of the third fastest time in the second 12 minute stint.

He said: “The new Superpole format was good. From a riders point of view it’s probably not as exciting as doing one fast lap, but from a team perspective it’s more tactical and everyone is involved.”
