Byrne upbeat about current run of results

Shane Byrne aims to continue his strong run of form into next weeks official SBK test at Imola and onto the tenth round of the Championship at Brno a week after.

In the last three rounds Shakey has qualified on the second row twice and the front row once with three top five finishes including a second place podium at Misano.

Having never ridden at Imola, Shakey will get two days onboard his Sterilgarda Ducati 1198 in preparation for the 12th round of the championship on 27th September.

He said:

“It’s an ideal opportunity to go out and learn the circuit. I’ve had to turn up at tracks I’ve never been to this year and race and although I learn them pretty quickly, racing with a load of other guys on track is different, so this test will be valuable.”

Shakey has been buoyed by his recent run of form and knows that as the 2009 season rumour mill of rider signings starts to gather momentum, now is the time to continue to impress.

He said:

“I was absolutely devastated not to be on the podium at my home race, but on the plus side I didn’t make a single mistake and I gave everything I had to give.

“I feel I’m riding at a good level and my aim is to maintain that until the end of the year and try and be consistently in the top five. I think it’s still early to talk about next year – we’ll have to wait and see.”
