Sterilgarda Yamaha reintroduces 2009 parts to combat chatter

The factory Sterilgarda Yamaha team of James Toseland and Cal Crutchlow have been forced to reintroduce 2009 components on to the 2010 spec Yamaha R1 following their disastrous test at Phillip Island last week.

Both Toseland and Crutchlow complained of chronic chatter onboard their revised 2010 spec R1’s which featured altered weight distribution and seating position in an effort to improve handling.

MCN understands that both riders were fuming after the test, finishing down in 12th and 16th place, which led to old parts being sent from Italy to Australia earlier this week. 

Toseland said: “We had a problem with the bike at the test and we knew it was going to be frustrating because the bits we wanted didn’t arrive until the day after it had finished. I’m looking forward now to going out on Friday for Free Practice and improving. We need a second a lap.”
