In the final day of testing at Misano, Troy Bayliss remains on the pace of factory riders Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio despite crashing just before lunch.

The three time world champion who revealed on Saturday that he will not be making a return to WSB competition as either a full time rider or wild card lost the front of his development 1198 exiting turn one.

Speaking exclusively to MCN, Bayliss said: “I was trying a new rear tyre which made the front feel a bit high, but I carried on lapping anyway.

“I lost the front between turn one and two. It was just as I picked the bike up the front tucked. I caught it on my knee and held it there for ages and kept going round but then it went.

“It was a soft crash really and they are never too bad. Other than that I’m happy because I’m on the pace, which is better than Thursday when it didn’t really click.”
