World Supersport Champion Chaz Davies capped off what has been a remarkable year by securing BBC Wales Sports Personality of the year. Davies clinched the accolade after a public vote some him receive more support than a number of other high profile Welsh sports people.
Speaking from California where he is spending time with Cal Crutchlow training, Davies said: "Motorcycling is not the biggest sport and we’re going up against a lot of talented sports people in Wales. To be nominated was special and to win is honestly something I didn’t think could happen.
"I’ve had an up and down career and it’s all come together this year when I finally got a bike and a team equal to the amount of effort I put into my racing. I won the world championship and now this, which really is unbelievable. It’s honestly hard for me to get my head round."
