Biaggi cautious about weekend ahead

Max Biaggi has revealed to MCN that he won’t know if it will be possible to race this weekend at Portimao until he has completed a full day on the bike tomorrow.

The 2010 world champions has a broken metatarsal in his left foot, sustained at the Nurburgring race at the beginning of September and was forced to miss the German race along with Imola and Magny Cours.

Speaking to MCN, today, Biaggi said: “The foot is not perfect. I will try to ride but the break is in the exact place where my foot touches the gear lever. I will use a normal boot, only a little bit bigger because of the strapping, but I won’t wear a cast. I am not prepared to ride with a cast on my foot because it compromises my movement too much.”

“I don’t want to have any pain killing injections so my plan is to ride on Friday to evaluate the situation. If the pain is constant and I do not have any problems with swelling on Saturday then I will race. It was a good track for me last year!”

Biaggi won both races in 2010 following two intense battles with Leon Haslam.
