WSS Assen: Marino takes first WSS pole

1 of 2

Florian Marino has held off the advances of triple champion Kenan Sofuoglu and hometown hero Michael van der Mark to take his first ever World Supersport pole position ahead of tomorrow’s Assen round of the championship.

In a session that saw spits of rain and white flags out for much of it, Marino was able to hold off late laps from Sofuoglu and van der Mark, both of whom set late flying laps but were unable to take the lead.

Fourth was Jules Cluzel, who also failed to make an impression with his late lap, while Dubliner Jack Kennedy was able to slot into fifth, one ahead of Scotsman Kev Coghlan in sixth.
