Van der Mark speaks futurism

According to rumours Pata Honda WSB rookie Michael van der Mark is on his way to MotoGP in 2016, but according to the rider himself – who has a two-year contract with Honda Europe to ride in WSB – that rumour is not accurate.

Of 2016 he said, one week after riding in the Suzuka 8-Hours race, “I have not spoken to anybody. I have a two-year contract here. If they let me go to a good Honda team in MotoGP it would be like a dream but I do not know anything about that. I spoke to Honda people at Suzuka, but not about that.”

His more immediate matters were at Sepang, where on day one he was inside the top ten, and happy enough after his first experience there on a Superbike, not his winning 2014 WSS machine.

“Last year at Sepang was a good year,” said VDM. “It will be difficult but the first practice, to be honest I was a bit surprised with the distance to the first guys. Everybodywill go faster but I had quite a good feeling and I was searching for this feeling quite a lot. I was happy with this first practice and we are not that far off. I was quite happy today.”
