Rea leads after morning test session

A Superbike only test at the round seven venue of Portimao, only one day after the race weekend itself, was held in dry and occasionally hot weather in the morning.

Nineteen riders were present at the test – virtually the entire WSB field – from championship leader Jonathan Rea (KRT) to the privateer BMW Team Toth runners.

Rea was the morning session leader with a 1’42.661 after 54 laps. Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) was second quickest, Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) third best and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) fourth. Strong Portimao race performer Matteo Baiocco (Althea Racing Ducati) placed sixth.
