Some of the top names in the World Superbike championship have been in attendance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend, with championship leader Jonathan Rea, reigning champion Sylvain Guintoli and former World Supersport winner Chaz Davies all climbing the legendary 1.1 mile course.

Guintoli, making his first appearance at the event on his Pata Honda bike – as well as getting a chance to ride Honda’s new RCV MotoGP road bike, was blown away by the entire event.

“It’s fantastic! It’s been first time for me, and I’mve really enjoyed it, but I’ve never been to something like it before either! Having all these champions, the best bikes, the best cars – unbelievable!

“It’s not really a circuit, though – there’s not a lot of grip out there so you have to take it easy. It’s more about having fun though, and waving to the crowd! It’s so relaxed, though – the atmosphere is nice.”

Meanwhile, factory Ducati rider Davies, a regular attendee at the annual event, managed to take to the track not only on his own Panigale R World Superbike, but also the National Superstock 1000 machine campaigned by James Egan.

“It’s amazing. I think this is my sixth time here, and every year it gets bigger and better and more impressive. It’s amazing to be in among a group of people who are all so passionate for motorsports.”
