Season starts at home round for Badovini

BMW Motorrad Italia rider Ayrton Badovini says his 2015 World Superbike season only starts next weekend when the championship returns to Imola, located only five miles form his hometown of Castel Bolognese.

The Italian round marks only his third outing of the season so far, after replacing Sylvain Barrier on the machine after the Frenchman was fired by the team after poor results over the opening two rounds of the year.

“It’s always special to ride at Imola, as I go shopping in the town every week! I just think the track has so much charm and history. Let’s hope the weather is good for the spectators though!”

However, Badovini has also struggled over the past two races at Aragon and Assen, leaving the Dutch round two weeks ago suffering with an inflamed right shoulder.

The feeling I have with the bike is clearly improving and the shoulder is already in a much better condition. I am strictly following the instructions I have been given by team Doctor Vincenzo Tota. We will try toforget the disappointment of Assen, although it must be said that there were some very good signals there.

“I know my team is working hard in order to ensure a high level of competitiveness and I think we can enjoy some satisfaction at Imola. For me, the real season begins here.”
