WSB: Super Davide Takes Superpole Win

Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) was a the popular winner of the Imola Superpole contest, securing the best possible starting place for Sunday’s 19-lap races as a result.

On his first weekend back in action for three months Giugliano set a best of 1’46.382 and hold off the best efforts of Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team).

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati WSB) attacked to take the lead with a few minutes to go before being overhauled by the final top three.

Also on the second row of the grid are Leon Haslam (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils) – who fell five minutes into Superpole 2 but got to the pits for repairs – and his team-mate Jordi Torres (Aprilia Racing Team – Red Devils).

Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Ducati) scored well in seventh place on his privateer Ducati; Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team) was the top BMW rider as ever, in eighth place.

In Superpole 1 Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) resorted to a qualifying tyre to get into Superpole 2, but made it, along with Michael van Der Mark (Pata Honda). VDM finished ninth and Camier 12th.

David Salom (Kawasaki team Pedercini) placed tenth and Alex Lowes (Voltcom Crescent Suzuki) 11th.
