WSB: Davies keen to get back on track at Laguna

Chaz Davies will make a last-ditch attempt to get his season back on track as the World Superbike Championship hits Laguna Seca this weekend.

Despite a strong start to the year, the Welshman’s season took a turn for the worst over the last two rounds, seeing him plummet from a clear title contender to third in the standings, almost 100 points off series leader Jonathan Rea.

Having stormed to a dominant double victory at the iconic American circuit last year, Davies is hoping to be able to turn things around and salvage something from the 2016 season with just five rounds now remaining.

“I really enjoy riding in Laguna Seca, it’s different from any other track on the calendar and quite demanding, both for the bike and the rider,” he said. “All season long, we’ve always had the pace to fight at the top, but the last few rounds haven’t been as smooth as we would have liked. Some unexpected difficulties have slowed us down a bit and we’ve lost points in the championship. That said, I still believe we can turn things around but we need to start now.”
