Britain’s Kyle Smith will remain in the Supersport World Championship next year after penning a deal to ride for the Gemar Lorini Honda team.

The three-time race winner will make the move to the Italian outfit from Simon Buckmaster’s CIA Insurance PTR squad as he looks to step up and fight for the title in 2017.

“I’m very excited to join Gemar Balloons Team Lorini Honda,” said Smith. “We’ve been in talks for some time and I have been really impressed by the Lorini brother’s attitude. Having raced against their bike this year I know they have put together a very strong package. 2017 will be my third year in World Supersport 600 and I feel I’m riding at my best ever. My goal now is to try and win the Championship and I’d like to thank Gemar Balloons and Lorini Honda plus WIL Sport and all my personal sponsors for their trust in me.”
