Honda Hornet 600, insurance group 11

The 600 is the latest incarnation of the much-loved Hornet. It keeps the great handling of its predecessor, while adding the engine from the CBR600RR sports bike for better handling and more fun. Its funky looks help keep things up to date.

Key facts

• Insurance group 11

• Ideal for new riders

• Four insurance groups lower than CBR600RR

The Hornet is a great bike for beginners, as it’s reasonably cheap to insure and run. More experienced riders will love the sporty CBR engine and wide bars. Despite using the same engine as the supersport CBR, the Hornet is four insurance groups lower than the CBR – making it incredibly good value.

Other insurance bargains from Honda:

Honda Transalp, insurance group 11

A simple, honest bike which seems to have been about forever. At insurance group 11 it’s relatively cheap to insure and also cheap to run.

Honda RVF400, insurance group 12

A favourite with new riders and shorter riders, the RVF400 is a great choice for your first sports bikes, and it’s only group 12 insurance. When you consider most modern sports bikes are at least insurance group 15, this is a bit of a bargain.

Honda FMX650, insurance group 11

In the same insurance group as the Hornet 600, this motor is just as much fun round town. The punchy single-cylinder engine is perfect for town work, while the wide bars and riding position make it easy to turn quickly.
