BMW motorcycles have enjoyed great success in recent years thanks to Ewan and Charley’s escapades in Long Way Round, but they remain fairly cheap to insure compared to the competition.

MCN Compare will find you cheap BMW bike insurance quotes quickly and easily, whether you want to travel the world on a BMW GS or simply commute on the frugal F800.

BMW R1200RT insurance group 11
This has to be one of the insurance bargains of the century. A 1200cc bike that can cross continents with ease and has enough luggage for everything and the kitchen sink. It’s hard to believe it’s only group 11 insurance, the same as the Suzuki Gladius.

Key facts

• Insurance group 11
• Superb long distance bike
• Build quality is top notch
The 110bhp boxer twin engine is superbly grunty and has just enough poke to shift the big RT. It’ll go on for mile after mile and you’ll never be uncomfortable.

Other insurance bargains from BMW

BMW G650, insurance group 9
There are three variations of the G650, the XChallenge, XMoto and XCountry – all insurance group 9. A bit of a bargain when you consider, depending on which variation you have, you can pretty much do anything and go anywhere.

BMW F650GS, insurance group 8
Actually an 800cc parallel twin, the F650GS is a brilliant all round bike, especially for shorter riders. Perkier than the G650 series of bikes, more usable and a lower insurance group.

BMW R1200S, insurance group 13
A good real world sports bikes with a great engine, the R1200S is four insurance groups lower than other 1000cc sports bikes and ultimately more usable and fun on the road.
