Cardo announce new Mesh Boost features for unlimited connectivity, available to download free soon

Cardo has announced a major update to its Mesh software, unlocking greater connectivity for second-generation Packtalk devices.

Mesh Boost is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025—the tenth anniversary of Cardo’s first Mesh intercom communication system, the Packtalk—and will be available as a free download for Cardo customers using the Pro, Edge, or Neo units.

What does the update include? Similar to the features offered by the new Sena 60S, Cardo Mesh Boost will allow up to 31 riders to connect using Dynamic Mesh Connectivity (DMC). This can be done through Public Mesh or Remote Grouping functionality. Public Mesh provides an open channel for spontaneous connections with other riders, while Remote Grouping allows riders to set up groups in advance using the Cardo Connect App.

In addition, Cellular Intercom connectivity will be introduced. This feature allows an unlimited number of riders to connect without any range limitations by using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). However, it relies on mobile data, so its performance will depend on the availability of a strong signal.

The Private Chat function will also be upgraded, enabling group chats with multiple riders. Previously, this feature only allowed one-on-one conversations, initiated through the Cardo Connect App.

We’re eager to test this technology as soon as it becomes available, so stay tuned for our full review.

Tested by Ben Clarke for 1 month/500 miles

"The Packtalk Pro takes all the best features of previous Packtalk models and adds some great extras. It includes a magnetic cradle attachment, 45mm JBL speakers, top-spec Mesh connectivity, and FM radio, along with the new tech.

"I’ve used several intercoms, and sound quality is often where they fall short. I ride with earplugs, and combined with road and wind noise, most units are nearly useless above 30 mph. However, the Pro, with its extra-large 45mm JBL speakers, works well for me. While I still can’t listen to a quiet podcast on the highway, music and phone calls are audible at full volume.

"The Mesh connection setup is incredibly easy. During a group ride with other journalists, we simply held two buttons down on each unit, and they synced instantly. After that, the channel was always open for chatting."
