Is my No Claims Discount invalid?

1 of 1

Q. I wanted to reinsure my new Kawasaki ER-6F after a two-year lay-off. However my last policy ran out in April 2010 (I thought it was June).

Are there any insurance companies which will accept a No Claims Discount which is even slightly more than two years old?

A. The industry standard is two years, but MCE are able to validate it for up to three years after your old policy expired. It would also be worth going back to your original insurers as they may cut you some slack.

If you are going to take a break from bikes, make sure that you get NCD proof paperwork when your cover expires, as insurers don’t keep those records for long.
