Motorcycle insurance bargains: Triumph Scrambler

Motorcycle insurance costs are an important consideration for any bike buyer. That's why MCN is highlighting some of the best cheap-to-insure motorcycles out there. This time it's the Triumph Scrambler.

Insurance group: 9
Used price: £3,999-6,400
Engine: 865cc 8v parallel twin, 5 gears
Power: 63bhp
Top speed: 125mph
Weight: 205kg

All of the retro Triumph Bonnevilles are pleasing to the eye, but the Scrambler is the prettiest of the bunch. It's one of those bikes that you buy for the pleasure of ownership and for the smile you get every time you look in the garage. But its also a very easy motorcycle to ride, practical enough to use daily and a bargain to insure at only group 9.

The Scrambler is powered by the same 865cc lump found in the Thruxton, only with a couple more bhp, new clutch for less vibes and a touch more midrange. With just 63bhp it's not what you'd call rapid, but for cruising around town or steady chugging along country roads, it's enough.

The beauty of the Scrembler is in the details - gorgeous twin pipes, just the right amount of chrome and great colour options. There's also a massive catalogue of stylish optional extras to choose form.
