Motorcycle insurance bargains: Moto Guzzi V7 Classic

Motorcycle insurance costs are an important consideration for any bike buyer. That's why MCN is highlighting some of the best cheap-to-insure motorcycles out there. This time it's the Moto Guzzi V7 Classic.

Insurance group: 10
Used price: £2,900-£4,000
Engine: 744cc 2v transverse twin, 5 gears
Power: 48bhp
Top speed: 115mph
Weight: 182kg

On paper the Moto Guzzi V7 Classic is uninspiring. 48bhp, tubular steel frame, single front disc... but all that melts away when you see it in the flesh. It's timelessly and effortlessly stylish. It's simple to ride and joyful to own. Plus it's only group 10 to insure.

If you want your retro roadster with a sporty side, then the Guzzi isn't really for you (try the pricier Sport Classic range from Ducati). But the V7 Classic does deliver an honest and effective ride with little cause for complaint - besides a few vibes at speed (also known as 'character'). This is a bike practical enough to use daily but cool enough to never seem boring.

The Moto Guzzi V7 Classic exudes class, from the the beautifully crafted aircraft-esque alloy filler-cap to the classically-styled seat (with ‘Moto Guzzi’ emblazoned on its rump). A stock Bonnie, by comparison, seems basic and cheesy.
