MCN Fleet

These are the 10 new-for-2021 bikes that will be joining this year’s MCN long-term test fleet. From off-roaders to nakeds, superbikes to adventure machines, our team of highly experienced riders will be taking them on road, track and dirt – hopefully both at home and abroad – to cut through the marketing hype and find out just how well each one performs.

Along the way we’ll be testing tyres, kit and hard-parts, speaking to experts and owners, logging every tank of fuel and enjoying each and every mile in order to bring you the most thorough review possible. And if you own one of these models, please get in touch with us and we’ll compare notes.

To read each bike's full review, click on the images below. We will continue to update these pages as the year progresses. There will also be plenty of posts to social media, our #ride5000miles page and videos on our YouTube channel.

MCN Fleet: The Triumph Bobber mirror breaks

MCN Fleet: The Triumph Bobber mirror breaks

Unfortunately, as cool as the Triumph Bobber looks, it's not been plain sailing over the first 3000 miles we've spent together.  I've chucked the Bobber straight in at the deep end, using it as...

MCN Fleet: 'I'd consider taking the R6 touring'

MCN Fleet: 'I'd consider taking the R6 touring'

My YZF-R6 is now proving far easier to live with than I first feared. Initially my first impressions weren’t favourable; The suspension was too harsh and the bike was far too track focused. However,...

MCN Fleet: How hard can it be? Fitting luggage to the V-Strom 650

I’ve got a confession to make. I’m absolutely crap at fixing things, DIY and anything like that, so when it comes to playing with bikes, unless it’s something basic, I often err on the side of caution...

MCN Fleet: Can the R6 be tamed?

MCN Fleet: The Street Glide has finally clicked

While I’ve been enjoying riding the Harley-Davidson Street Glide I’ve had on test, I’d not really gelled with it. I’ve clocked up well over 5,000 miles on it now but most of that has been commuting,...

MCN Fleet: Can you really ride an R1200GS off-road?

MCN Fleet: Can you really ride an R1200GS off-road?

There’s a reason why enduro bikes are as thin, light and lithe as possible, with all extraneous fat stripped away to reveal pure muscle and sinew: because the last thing you want off-road is a lardy...

MCN Fleet: The 10p Bobber fix

MCN Fleet: The 10p Bobber fix

The Triumph Bobber looks great, there's no doubt about that. But one thing I was slightly worried about prior to its arrival was if all that style would be at the cost of functionality. The Triumph...

MCN Fleet: A Street Triple Parisian romance

MCN Fleet: In control of the Supersport S

Having passed the 1000-mile mark a short while ago, a few things have struck me about the consistently brilliant Ducati Supersport S. The switchgear is just a bit… well, odd. Hit the cancel indicator...
