Product advice: Will aftermarket levers be an MoT failure?

1 of 1

“I read somewhere that brake/clutch levers without ball ends will fail an MoT. The clutch lever on my XTZ660 got broken recently and I fitted an aftermarket lever, but it doesn’t have a ball end and the MOT is due next week. Will it fail?”
Paul Rice, Chester Le Street

Don¹t worry, according to the MoT regulations levers can only be failed if they are “so damaged, positioned, bent or shortened that they cannot be readily operated”. If you have a problem when it comes to MoT time there is an appeals procedure that¹s set out in the paperwork for you to get it re-tested and passed.
