Some high mileage commuters find themselves picking up punctures every 2-3000 miles and they start searching for more puncture-proof rubber.

But that puncture rate is more a comment on the type of routes they use each day rather than the tyres themselves.

The tyres of cars, vans, lorries and buses all follow the same lanes and their wide flat rubber tend to flick nails, tacks, glass shards and other road debris into the gutters and crown of the road.

So when you¹re weaving your way through heavy traffic for thousands of miles that massively increases your chances of picking up a puncture in the ‘dirty’ part of the road.
