Yamaha’s promise of affordable insurance cover for all owners of its new and secondhand officially imported machines is expected to come into effect in early July.

For more details on Yamaha’s insurance scheme don’t miss the latest issue of MCN, out June 5.

The scheme will subsidise the cost of insuring all its bikes – and not just for those that fall into the higher insurance categories. When the firm launched a similar scheme for 2001 R1 buyers earlier this year, remaining stocks of the bike sold out almost immediately, propelling it to the top of the new bike sales charts for the first quarter of 2002.

Yamaha’s Miles Taylor told MCN: ” We want to get this deal right so we have spent time getting it spot on. This is a long-term policy and there’s no point going into it half-heartedly.

What do you think about this deal? Would it sway you towards buying a Yamaha and should all the manufacturers come up with similar schemes? Click on the link on the right and tell us.
