Quiz winner passes on prize

The top-prize winner of MCN’s massive Christmas quiz picked up his Suzuki DR-Z400– and instantly gave it away again.

Honda CBR600 rider Martin Houckham, 62, from Dartford, Kent, decided to hand the bike over to his son-in-law, Bob Burlington, 42.

The pair picked up the bike from their local dealer, EC Bate of Dartford.

Houckham said: ” I couldn’t see myself riding an off-roader – I’m too long in the tooth for all of that. So I’ll keep my CBR600 and give the Suzuki to Bob, who built a conservatory on my house, as a thank-you. He does a lot of work for me and it’s nice to be able to give him something back.

“I spent ages studying the questions in the quiz, it took days to get it right, but I never thought I had a chance of winning – I’ve never won anything before in my life. I’m really chuffed I spent the time on it now.”

Houckham – who got all 99 questions right – was just one of 40 winners of prizes thanks to the quiz. Others collected everything from helmets and leathers to brake pads and oil.
