Rockster hits the shops

1 of 1

BMW has announced that it’s new Boxer engined Rockster will be available in dealers from March 15, priced at £7295 on the road.

The company first showed the bike as a concept at the Intermot show in Munich last year and the response from the public was so good that in December it announced that the bike would go into full production.

The turnaround from concept to full production bike has been so quick because it is essentially a compilation of other bikes from the BMW range.

The Rockster takes its engine, gearbox, frame, swing-arm, and electrics from the R1150R, the odd looking headlights are from the R1150GS, while other parts such as the Telelever sliding tubes, rear wheel rim, and the front mudguard have been stolen from the R1100S.

The aim of the hybrid is to provide a sportier version of the R1150R and BMW claims that it has managed to sharpen the handling.
