Power boost for new R1

1 of 1

Too much is never enough where power is concerned. Take Yamaha’s new R1. 150bhp-plus at the back wheel could be considered plenty. Akrapovic feels you’ll want a little more…

Before most people with orders in have even got their hands on their new R1s, Akrapovic has developed new slip-on and full race exhaust systems for them. The slip on adds up to 4bhp, the full system delivers an extra 7.9bhp, says the firm.

Slip on race silencers cost £699 while full race systems are £1194 for the Race Conical system and £1462 for the Evolution Full Titanium System.

A Y-Piece catalyst eliminator, which can be used with the slip-on race can, costs £127. The parts should be available at Akrapovic dealers now. They are not road legal.

Expect MCN to test them soon.
