Hyosung's 05 surprises

1 of 1

2005 could be the year you buy your first Hyosung.

They may not have the cache of their Japanese rivals yet, but the new line-up – and their prices – could well turn your head.

Suzuki’s SV650S is clearly the target of the GT 650S. It’s based on the firm’s GT650 commuter but given a sporty update. It’s likely to cost just £3800 – almost a grand less than the list price of the SV650S.

There’s a fully-faired version with lowered handlebars, raised pegs and digital clocks, too – for only around £100 more. That’s called the Comet GT R.

A third bike uses the same twin-cylinder 650cc engine – this time to go after Yamaha’s Dragstar. The chrome-laden Aquilia cruiser has twin front disc brakes and a 200-section rear tyre – all for around £4500.

The 2005 line up also includes a 400cc single-cylinder street trailie – the RX400. There’s no estimated price yet – but it’s likely to undercut Suzuki’s DR-Z400, which retails for £3999.
