R1 tops ratings chart

The Yamaha R1 has topped the motorcyclenews.com ratings chart, notching the highest percentage when you combine MCN and user review scores.

The R1 scores a massive 97.5 percent rating when you average the marks given by all the reviews submitted in our Bike Reviews section by owners and MCN road testers, beating the Honda CBR900RR Fireblade to the top spot.

The Blade and the Suzuki GSX-R600 took joint second place with a rating of 96.5 percent.

A look in our BIKES FOR SALE section reveals that all three bikes are top sellers as well with hundreds available to choose form and some cracking deals available. You could have an R1 for as little as £3400 for this 98 model with 14,500 miles on the clock, or if you want a newer one then you could have this blue 2004 model with just 2400 miles on it for £7700.

A Suzuki GSX-R600 can be picked up for as little as £2500 for this ‘98 model or £5000 for this 2004 bike. While a ’92 Fireblade could be yours for £1850 for this ’92 bike or £5400 for an ’03 bike with 3800 miles on it.

Joint third place in the ratings chart were the Suzuki GSX-R1000, which can be found for as little as £4800, and Kawasaki ZX-6R, £4499 for an ’03 bike, which both scored 96 percent.

Fourth place was shared by the Aprilia Tuono and the Yamaha R6 with an average rating of 95 percent, while the Honda CBR600F came in at fifth place with 94.5 percent.
