The new MCI president, David Jamieson, was introduced to crowds at the NEC by the current incumbent, Stephen Norris.

Former Conservative Transport Minister Norris has served as president of the Motorcycle Inudstry Association for five years, and will now hand over to former Labour Roads Minister, Jamieson.

Also part of the MCI presentation was a talk by Bikesafe’s David Griffin, outlining how the scheme will be revised. The aim is to return the scheme to a position between passing your testing, and advanced training, rather than evolving into a quasi-training scheme. A new DVD will also help maintain a unified national standard.

Two Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards were presented, to the Institute of Highway Engineers, and to the Department for Transport.

Suzi Perry then came on stage to rpesent one lucky winner with Chris Walker’s own minibike, and also to present MCN Auction winner Phil Innamorati, 36, from Birmingham with the signed leathers worn in the MCI safety DVD ‘A Street, A Track, An Open Road.”
