Cops pay Angels $1 mill

Californian police will pay nearly $1 million to the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club to settle a lawsuit after officers shot and killed three guard dogs during a raid on the group’s headquarters.

Nintey officers raided the San Jose clubhouse of the Angels, along with nine homes of suspected members to gather evidence, but lower court judges ruled the actions were unreasonable, since most of the evidence obtained was unnecessary and officers did nothing to avoid killing the animals.

Santa Clara county will pay $990,000, while the San Jose Police Department was also named in the suit but has not worked out an agreement.
