BMW at Goodwood

1 of 1

BMW Motorrad UK will be attending the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed in force this year, as for the first time in 14 years, the date doesn’t clash with any major bike races.

In the hillclimb event, ex-MotoGP star Jeremy MCWilliams will be riding one of the 175hp BMW K1200 R PowerCup bikes from the one-make series which ran in 2005. Meanwhile Long Way Round star Charley Boorman will also be riding the 1.16 mile course on the F650 GS he used to compete in the Lisbon to Dakar rally.

And two classic will also be running, with the R 90 S boxer-twin Superbike on which Steve McLaughlin won the first ever superbike race in Daytona in 1976, and a 1929 BMW WR 750 works racer which took the World Speed Racrod in 1929 with a top speed of 134.6mph.

Also on display will be a second F650 GS Dakar bike, ridden in 2006 by Boorman’s team-mate Matt Hall, the new-generation R1200 GS Adventure, the K1200 R and the F800 S. For more information on Goodwood, call 01243-755055. Contact BMW on 0800-777155.
