Evel Knievel is in hospital following a stroke according to his son Robbie, who fears for his father’s health.

Speaking in advance of a jump planned for this weekend, where he will leap over more than $4 billion in fake cash at the Independence Ride in Wilmington, Delaware, he told reporters that Evel’s health is failing.

Speaking to American TV station Fox on Wednesday, he said: “My dad’s not doing good. He just had another stroke yesterday, he’s in the hospital and they’re doing some MRI. That’s his second stroke and he’s got pulmonary fibrosis – his lungs are going from the mines and his liver transplant medication.

“He’s had a hip replacement, and 15 or 17 major operations where they cut him open to put steel in him or take it out of him.

“I’m just going to keep on continuing to keep the name Knievel the most famous on two wheels. I’m like the last of the last…”

Despite Evel’s stroke, Robbie still plans to make the jump.
