Harley Hot Rod special

An MCN reader has created this unique custom as a homage to 50s hot-rod culture.
What began life as a tatty 1996 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy was given a £5,000 makeover by Shaws Harley-Davidson in Eastbourne.

Most of the money was spent on the stunning paintjob with a matt black base and pinstripe red touches – the wheels are powder coated red with white walls in true 50s hot rod style.

The bike has been fitted with an authentic 1925 solo sprung seat and a Maltese Cross rear view mirror.

Shaws Harley-Davidson has just opened its new Custom Speed Shop offering one-to-one consultations with expert bike builder Sam Olver who can help turn your standard Sportster into a show winner.

Steve Willis from Shaws said: “We had a tatty old ’96 Fat Boy in the shop that had seen better days – it was quiet over the winter months so we decided to give it a makeover to make it the flagship bike to publicise our new Custom Speed Shop. If you fancy something similar it would cost around £5,000 – it’s a fairly simple customisation.”
