Iranian motorists receive 74 whips for speeding

If you’re fed up with speed cameras, fixed penalty fines, and points on your license, spare a thought for motorists in Iran who face 74 lashes if found guilty of dangerous driving.

The country’s government has passed the whipping law in a bid to cut down on the number of deaths on its roads, after official figures showed over 100,000 citizens have died in road accidents over the past five years.
