Glass Lines

1 of 4

As I went to turn right into this local side road in Heatherside – Surrey I noticed some strange substance on the road.

Stopping to investigate I discovered that the lines, freshly painted that day, had been scattered with small glass-like beads presumably to make them reflective! But why?

The workers had not bothered to sweep up the overspill leaving the surface treacherous to bikes, and even to pedestrians.

I would expect that glass on the surface of the paint would make the lines even more slippery when wet. Where’s the road safety thinking in that? I have complained to the council and am awaiting their explanation.
