McGuinness replica set for eBay sale

A replica of John McGuinness’ 2007 TT-winning Honda Fireblade is due to be auctioned on eBay from February 7, to raise cash for the Chris Jones Riders Fund.

The bike is the first of 10 limited-edition replicas created by bike retailer Fowlers, and features a full HM Plant paintjob, Akrapovic exhaust system, headlight covers, single-seat unit, and a dark screen manufactured by Powerbronze. McGuinness has also signed the bike, which adds to its exclusivity.

Bidding is set to start at 99p, though the charity hopes to raise as much as possible from the auction, which is set to run for 10 days. “All funds will go towards buying medical equipment,” explains Pam Jones, one of the founders of the Rider Fund.

The successful bidder will also receive a certificate of authenticity, a TT book and limited edition TT Nitro Helmet signed by McGuinness. The bike and all additional goodies will be presented to the winner by McGuinness during a special lunch.

The Chris Jones Riders Fund was set up early 2006 to raise funds for a mobile x-ray machine that can be used to offer track-side scans of injured riders. Jones says the charity raised a total of £20,000 in 2007.
