My partner Tracy won a motorcycle tour of Western Cape, South Africa at the Welsh Motorcycle Show in Builth Wells last May. At the time neither of us had licenses or bikes!

We decided to go for it and I bought a Bandit 650 SA and Tracy a Yam YBR125. I passed my test on the second attempt on the 21st November and managed to put 1800 miles on the Bandit over the winter.

We flew out on March 1st and spent a wonderful 7 days touring on a BMW 1200GS. We must have crossed a dozen mountain passes and did 500+km in one day on a run back to Cape Town on the N2.

I found the GS very easy to ride, 2 up with all the luggage most of the time, and despite my lack of experience completed 1600 miles or so almost doubling my biking experience.

We then spent 3 days at the beach resort of Camps Bay outside Cape town to relax and reflect on our own little South African adventure. Trevor & Tracy
