Disabled biker - sorry won't quote you

I find myself so annoyed after phoning for a insurance quote from “The Bike Insurer”.

I lost the use of my right arm after a racing accident at Mallory Park 7 years ago. However not ready to stop riding I got myself a nice light Aprilla RS250 and converted it to a thumb operated front brake and left hand throttle. I reapplied for my bike licence from the DVLA, which I got no problem.

Since then I have insured with Carole Nash – no problem very helpful, no excess charge, a great service. However this year I saw the Bike Insurers advert and thought maybe I could save a few quid. Fool.

So I contacted them and they were happy to help until I told them about my arm and the bike modifications, then it was “SORRY SIR WE CAN’T QUOTE YOU, NONE OF THE COMPANYS WE DEAL WITH WILL QUOTE YOU.”

Nobody heard of the Disability Discrimination Act? I hate to think I’m any diffrent now, I am not, I am the same guy I was before the accident. Or I thought I was until I spoke to the Bike Insurer. What right do they have to do that.

Thanks to Carole Nash I am covered and I won’t make the mistake of shopping around again.
