Westminster parking chaos sparks new protest

A demonstration demanding Westminster Council scraps its controversial bike parking scheme will be staged on Sunday August 16.

The unpopular scheme, branded a ‘stealth tax’ on bikes and scooters has been plagued by controversy since its introduction last August.

This latest protest has been organised by the No to Bike Parking Tax Campaign after a new series of blunders was uncovered.

The campaign claims:

– The decision to make the parking levy permanent has been delayed, indicating support in the council may be faltering

– The Information Commissioner may be called in over late FoI (Freedom of Information) responses

– The Pay by Phone System failed for a day leaving motorists and riders at risk of fines

Everyone is invited to joint the demonstration, which will leave the Ace Café at 11am on Sunday, take in a rally at Golden Square from 12-12.45pm and continue to Westminster City Hall at 1pm.
