BMW launch 2009 riding collection

BMW has leaked a number of latest additions to their 2009 range including a new top-line road lid, textile two-piece and protective vest.

The Tailguard suit is also new for 2009 and replaces the Santiago suit.

It’s sporty for a BMW textile jacket and jean and has a Dynatec outer shell that is breathable and abrasion resistant.

There are protectors in the shoulders, elbows, knees, back and hips, reflective inserts and GORE-TEX inserts that can be interchanged for improved waterproofing or summer comfort. (See main image)

Added to the range is a Protector Jacket 2 – a sport/enduro protection top to be worn underneath riding clothing.

It’s designed to give maximum upper-body protection with a three-dimensional pre-formed back protector, joint protectors for the shoulders and elbows, PU protectors and removable inserts in the chest and impact absorbing panels at the upper arm and ribs.

It’s also highly ventilated and the mesh material is moisture wicking.

Also there’s the Protector Vest.

It is an upgrade on the Back Protector 2 and has been developed to prevent injury to the spine, shoulder, collar bone and kidney area.

The biggest news comes in the shape of the new System 6 helmet, replacing the popular but outgoing System 5.

The biggest improvements are claimed to be with the reduction in wind noise and aerodynamics.

The System 6 is available in two shell sizes – small which weighs in at 1570g and large at a slightly heavier 1670g.

The shell is glass-fibre reinforced plastic with an impact absorbing inner shell.

The chinstrap has an integrated neckband to stop the helmet twisting on impact and an anti-fog double-glazed visor.

All of these products are set to become available in coming weeks. Check back at www.motorcyclenews.com to get a full price range.
