New Test - Practice makes perfect

I passed my Module 1 test on Wednesday and it was easy as pie. I honestly did not understand what all the fuss was about.

The test centre pad has very high grade tarmac, the instructor explains what he wants you to do and was, in my case, more than willing to repeat himself and elaborate if I didn’t quite understand.

The swerve was easy as pie and so was the emergency stop. So what’s all the fuss about? It was until I talked to some other guys at the test centre from other training schools that I realised that they had had ZERO preparation for module 1 whereas I had been given loads. I guess it all depends on which training school you use and what facilities they have available.

My training school was great. They have a pad with a module 1 setup which was brill to train on. So we would ride on the road training for Module 2 until lunch and then do the module 1 practice in the afternoon. By the time I did my test I was well prepared and confident.

Little tips helped; like getting off the throttle as soon as you are through the speed measuring device. That half a second of engine braking helps alot during the avoidance and helps you stay well away from your instinct to reach for the actual brakes during the swerve itself.

Well thats Module 1 out of the way. I have module 2 today and the rain is hoofing it down. Should be fun 🙂
